Whitemans Green Active Track

Whitemans Green Active Track

Our Project

We want to build an all-weather synthetic running track around the perimeter of the sports fields of Whitemans Green to support the health and well-being of the local community.

The Active Track initiative will deliver approximately 1 kilometre of all-weather synthetic track routed around the western end of the existing sports ground.

It will skirt the perimeter of the western end of the grounds,  hugging the edge of the grounds until it reaches the rear side of the new Whitemans Green Sports club building and car park before heading back in front of the pavilion and back to make a closed loop.

The track will have a mixture of low-level lighting in place to allow the track to be used  into the early evenings during the winter months. The track will be marked up to support as many running and walking activities as possible.

We believe this configuration will support the needs of lots of existing running groups and the broader community in the most safe surroundings possible.

We are working with several key stakeholders to ensure that our final design covers as many positive benefits to the local community, local sports clubs, and the general public as possible without encroaching on the current use of Whitemans Green.

We have been working with England Athletics to ensure that we use best practices to design and build the track and align with the needs of the sports bodies that have input into the planning process at Whitemans Green.

We understand that the facility needs to benefit all elements of the local community from elite to casual runners to walkers and buggy pushers.

Our project encompasses the launch of a fund-raising initiative to raise funds to cover the design and build phase of the delivery. We are working with a. number of local individuals and organisations to maximise our eligibility for donations and grants.

We are working closely with MSDC to understand the steps required to navigate the planning process and we have reached out to the parish councils involved to gather initial feedback.

This website will be the source of information on progress of our project and we hope you will offer your support and help where it’s needed. This potential community facility needs the community to deliver it!
